AT A GLANCE
The excellent low friction and high wear resistance performance of GGB metal-polymer bearings make them ideal for hundreds of applications in numerous and diverse industries around the world.
The superior performance of metal polymer plain bushings lies in their unique composite structure:
Improved energy efficiency with the low friction performance of PTFE-enriched overlay
Improved operational efficiency with a machinable overlay for reduced clearances and perfect bearing geometry (out of roundness and cylindricity)
Extended service life with a high wear-resistant bronze layer
Extended service life with a high overlay resistance under fatigue loading, cavitation erosion and edge loading
Zero maintenance as self-lubricating bearings can operate dry without grease
Reduced maintenance with indents in the overlay which act as reservoirs for the grease
Greater reliability than bimetal bearings by avoiding potential shaft/bearing seizure under boundary lubricated conditions and frequent stop/start operation
Compact, lightweight designs with thin-wall bearing construction
Reduced noise with no metal-to-metal contact between the bearing and the shaft
Quick, simple assembly without expensive mounting tools
The structure and overlay composition of each bearing product has been specifically designed to offer distinct bearing properties in order to meet the performance requirements of each application.
The following tables are a guide to the different performance characteristics of each product.
Depending upon application requirements, metal-polymer composite bearings can be produced in many shapes and sizes from inner diameters ranging from just 2 mm / 0.08" to more than 500 mm / 20".
The type of loading applied to the bearing will determine which bearing shape is required.
Standard sized parts for a wide range of bearing products with basic dimensions (inner diameter, outer dimeter, length, etc.) according to international standards are readily available from stock.
Special bearings with additional functionality can be produced to customer specifications and requirements.
This includes but is not limited to grooves and holes for lubricant, locating notches, punched and stamped shapes, half bearings for piston pumps/motors and sub-assemblies.
Application and sales engineers with extensive experience are available to assist in bearing design and selection to meet customers’ requirements. They can be reached via the contact form or through your local GGB representative or authorized distributor.
