Are bearings used in oil and gas production?

We understand the key issues in the oil and gas industries, and offer bearing solutions that provide the performance and durability they demand.

Our self-lubricating bearing materials resist wear, chemicals, cavitation, flow erosion and fatigue, making them ideal for a wide range of applications in oil and gas operations.

GGB self-lubricating bearings comply with global quality control and environmental standards, including ISO 9001ISO 14001, IATF 16949, AS 9100D and ISO45001, and we work with some of the world’s leading companies and Tier-1 suppliers, including National Oilwell Varco, Schlumberger, GE Oil & Gas, Pentair, Helmerich & Payne, MH Wirth and Emerson.

From the top of the derrick to the ocean floor and from the pipeline to the pump, GGB bearing solutions provide longer service life, reduced maintenance and grease-free operation in these oil and gas applications: valves, actuators, pipe hangers, slide plates, iron roughnecks, top drives, pump jacks, draw works, blowout preventers, marine risers and tensioners, platform cranes and sheaves, heavy winch and fairleads and watertight and gastight doors, hatches and covers. The following maintenance-free, self-lubricating plain bearings are particularly well suited to these applications:

  • DP4® Low friction plain bearings offer good wear and low friction performance in a wide range of dry-running loads, speeds and temperatures. Suitable for use in linear, oscillating and rotating movement applications and also performs well in lubricated uses.
  • HSG High-load fiber reinforced composite bearings provide excellent shock, contamination and misalignment resistance combined with very good friction and wear properties. Also features good chemical resistance and high static load capacity.
  • GAR-MAX® Self-lubricating fiberglass bearing features high load capacity and excellent shock, misalignment and contamination resistance. Also provides very good friction and wear properties in dry conditions.
  • DU® Self-lubricating metal-polymer bearing consists of a metal-polymer composite material that provides very good wear and friction performance in dry running applications. Also suitable for use in oil lubricated conditions.
  • GGB-DB™ Maintenance-free bearing design provides excellent performance under high loads and intermittent operation in heavy-duty applications. Graphite inserts are available for temperatures exceeding 250ºC.
