Engineering Manager is responsible for the supervision, formulation, administration and coordination of engineering projects, policies, processes, methods and procedures designed to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays and otherwise promote cost reductions on a plant-wide basis for two facilities. Must be familiar with the TS Certification Process and have a full working knowledge of the APQP process. Support new product start-up

  • Drive a culture of safety through all engineering activities
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts
  • Activities involve using time-study or standard data for a variety of machine, production methods, equipment layout, material handling, and manpower, equipment and material utilization in order to improve operating performance.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
  • Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product.
  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Participate in  local engineering activity linked to Global Engineering strategy
  • Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  • Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness.
  • Train production personnel in new or existing methods.
  • Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs.
  • Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
  • Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
  • Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
